Laser Tattoo Removal
Tattoos have become very popular, but for many people they regret their decision to have a tattoo.
Sometimes the tattoo has become outdated or inappropriate for their current life situation, or they wish to modify their existing tattoos.
Laser gives people the flexibility to do all of these things, whether it be removal of an unwanted tattoo, modifying an existing one, or fading out an old tattoo ready for a new design to be done.
What is involved?
To start having laser tattoo removal, you will need to have an initial consultation where we will get all of the relevant information we require to start your treatment, and your tattoo will be assessed. All aspects of the laser tattoo removal process will be explained to you prior to commencing treatment, including a test patch if required.
How does the laser work?
The laser uses a very high powered beam of light which is delivered into the skin in a fraction of a second. The laser breaks up the ink particles without damaging the surface skin and the ink is then eliminated out of the body by the immune system. The Fotona QX Max is the most powerful laser on the market today. Treatments are quick and there is only minimal discomfort.
Can all tattoos be removed?
With the latest laser technology, it is now possible to remove just about all types of tattoos safely and effectively. Usually amateur tattoos require less treatments than professional ones. All colour inks can be treated, with black being the easiest colour to remove. Other colours such as pale blue and green can be more difficult and may require more treatments.
It is possible to remove or significantly lighten tattoos but it is not always possible to totally remove a tattoo.
How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments required will vary depending on the amount of ink used and how deep the ink was inserted into the skin. As a guideline most professional treatments will require six to twelve treatments with amateur tattoos usually requiring less.
It is recommended to wait 6-8 weeks in between treatments and fading can occur for several months after each treatment .
What are the costs?
Treatment costs will vary depending on the size, colour and complexity of the tattoo. This will be discussed during your initial consultation.
When can a tattoo be removed?
Tattoo removal can commence as soon as the tattoo has completely healed, we recommend to wait at least 6 weeks before starting treatment.
You can re-tattoo an area after laser removal. Whether you have had complete removal, partial removal to modify or just lightening of the tattoo the area will be able to be re-tattooed. The wish to replace an existing tattoo is a common reason for having laser tattoo removal.
